CompTIA Security+ validates knowledge of communication security, infrastructure security, cryptography, operational security, and general security concepts.  Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA Security+ candidates have at least two years on-the-job networking experience.

CompTIA Network+ validates the knowledge and skills of networking professionals. It  recognizes a Information Assurance Technician's ability to describe the features and functions of networking components and to install, configure and troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and services. Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that CompTIA Network+ candidates have at least nine months of experience in network support or administration or adequate academic training.
 

IA Technical Level I ⁽²⁾

CompTIA A+ certification validates the skills needed by Information Assurance Technical personnel. CompTIA A+ confirms a technician's ability to perform tasks such as installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance and basic networking. The exams also cover domains such as security, safety and environmental issues and communication and professionalism.

 

IA Technical Level I ⁽²⁾

Security Certified SCNP professional certification is focused on defensive security knowledge and technologies which are important to securing the enterprise including intrusion detection and firewalls. Candidates for this exam must have the Security+ certification or equivalent knowledge and skills.

Security Certified SCNA professional certification focuses on the advanced knowledge and skills required for a trusted network environment. Topics covered include: Email security, wireless technologies, PKI, Digital Signatures, Cryptography and Biometrics. Candidates must have the SCNP Certification to sit for this exam.

The Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP^®) credential offers information security tacticians, with implementation orientations, the opportunity to demonstrate their level of competence with the seven domains of the compendium of best practices for information security, the (ISC)² SSCP Common Body of Knowledge.  The SSCP credential is ideal for those working toward or who have already attained positions as network Information Assurance Managers, Information Assurance Chiefs, Senior Network Security Engineers, Senior Security Systems Analysts or Senior Security Administrators.

The Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP^®) certification provides information security professionals with not only an objective measure of competence but a globally recognized standard of achievement. The CISSP credential demonstrates competence in the 10 domains of the (ISC)² CISSP^® Common Body of Knowledge. The CISSP credential is ideal for mid- and senior-level managers who are working toward or have already attained positions as network or enclave Information Assurance Managers, Information Assurance Chiefs, Chief Security Officers or Senior Security Engineers.

The ISACA Certified Information Systems Auditor® (CISA®) is a globally accepted standard for information systems audit, control and security professionals. The CISA exam is held twice a year and focuses on information systems audit process, IT governance, system and infrastructure lifecycle, IT service delivery and support, protection of IS assets, and business continuity and disaster recovery.
 

IA Technical Level III ⁽³⁾

The ISACA Certified Information Security Manager® (CISM®) certification program is developed specifically for experienced information security managers and those who have information security management responsibilities. The CISM certification is for the individual who manages, designs, oversees and/or assesses an enterprise’s information security (IS). The CISM exam is held twice a year and focuses on information security governance, risk management, information security program management, information security management, and response management.
